Dr Alexander “Sandy “ Mclean is the principal dentist and owner at West End Dental, where he manages and directs the practice with a strong commitment to maintaining an efficient, friendly and ethical environment for both patients and staff.Born and bred in Brisbane, Dr Sandy is the youngest son of a Scottish family.He has worked professionally in the UK, Mt Isa Base Hospital for five years as an itinerant dentist and had several successful practices in Queen Street and in Wynnum. Dr Sandy thrives on the challenge and responsibility of making each visit as informative and enjoyable as possible, ensuring patient comfort as a priority.He now works is his own neighbourhood at West End, where his three boys have attended kindy, primary and high school. Outside of work Sandy enjoys spending time with his family whether it’s at the beach, on a road trip or camping. Their favourite activity is driving the old land cruiser to places with no reception, a beach and lots of trees. Dr Sandy takes pride in the fact that West End Dental is an independent and locally owned dental clinic.

Dr. Lilly Hughes is a dedicated dentist with a passion for supporting her patients and enhancing their confidence through dental care. Originally from Australia, Dr. Hughes has been in the dental industry since 2016. Starting as a dental assistant alongside her father, she developed a strong interest in helping patients. She later earned her dentistry degree from Charles Sturt University. Her favourite procedure is restorative aesthetics. Her approach to dentistry is focused around taking the time to educate her patients and ensure they feel comfortable and at ease throughout their treatment. Outside of work, Dr. Hughes enjoys spending time with her dog, Daisy, and pursuing a variety of hobbies, including going to the gym, baking, and exploring her artistic side. One of her favourite aspects of working at the clinic is the opportunity to meet a diverse range of people and be part of a patient-centred team that truly cares about making a difference in the lives of others.

Airdre is a proud graduate of CQ University, achieving a Bachelor of Oral Health with Distinction. With an impressive 14-year tenure in the dental field, including 7 years as Dr. Sandy McLean’s trusted dental assistant in the heart of the CBD, Airdre brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for her craft to our practice. Airdre is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and positive experience for patients, particularly younger patients to ensure their introduction to dental care is as enjoyable as possible. She firmly believes in the power of evidence-based dentistry to educate and empower patients in maintaining optimal dental and oral health throughout their lives. Outside of her professional endeavours, Airdre finds joy in culinary pursuits, attending live music events, and cherishing quality time with her partner Frank and their beloved staffies, Luna and Loki. Her vibrant personality and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to our team.

Ana-Maria is our Practice Manager and Dental Assistant with 7 years of experience in the dental field. Originally from Romania, she brings a unique perspective to her role, driven by her passion for seeing people happy and helping them regain their confidence. Ana is deeply patient-focused, always taking the time to educate and inform her patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and well cared for. Outside of work, Ana enjoys riding motorbikes and spending quality time with her partner and their chunky cat, Honey. Ana enjoys lightening the mood with jokes, but she is also a source of comfort when her patients need it most. Her favourite thing about working here is the clinic’s lively atmosphere, always filled with laughter and positivity. Ana’s dedication to her patients and her vibrant personality makes her an essential and cherished member of our team.

Ana Laura is one of our dedicated dental assistants, with 17 years of experience in the dental industry.
Trained in both Mexico and Australia, Ana has cultivated a wealth of knowledge and expertise, always bringing a smile to her work.
Known for her warm, friendly, and compassionate nature, she genuinely cares about her patients’ well-being and strives to make the world a healthier place through her profession.

Outside of work, Ana enjoys walking, reading, and traveling, with a passion for hiking and photography. Her favourite aspect of being part of the team is the opportunity to learn something new every day, which keeps her motivated and excited about her role. Ana’s positive energy and enthusiasm make her an invaluable member of the team, and she continues to inspire those around her with her dedication to both personal and professional growth.

Freweyni, also knows as Fi, is a skilled and compassionate dental assistant with 2 years of experience, known for her ability to make patients feel comfortable and at ease. She completed her training at the Australian Academy of Dental Assisting and is passionate about helping others feel confident and happy with their smiles. Fi thrives in an environment where she can see people leave the clinic feeling more self-assured and with a brighter, healthier smile. Originally from Eritrea, Fi brings a warm and welcoming presence to the clinic. She is dedicated to providing exceptional care, always showing kidness with patients to ensure they feel relaxed during their visits. Outside of work, Fi enjoys watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her friends. She is also an active member of her church and enjoys reading storybooks. One of her fondest memories at the clinic was when her team surprised her with a birthday cake, making her feel truly appreciated and part of the team.
